304 Grade 1 X 1 Stainless Steel Wire Mesh For Hog Panel

Keeping hogs in line is a real test for any fence, and this hog panel mesh is built for it. Each panel is made from 304 stainless steel wire welded into a 1" x 1" square mesh, an opening size that stops piglets squeezing through while letting sows and growers see and breathe. The welded joints at every intersection give the panel strength in both directions, so it holds up to rooting, pushing and chewing far better than a loosely woven sheet. Because the whole panel is 304 grade stainless steel, it copes with the wet, ammonia-heavy air of a pig house without the fast rusting that plain steel shows within its first season. Most of the credit goes to the metal itself. Grade 304 stainless steel carries roughly 18% chromium, and that chromium reacts with oxygen to form a thin protective film on the wire surface, which gives the mesh its corrosion resistance. In a constantly wet, slurry-covered pen, or where salt or acidic cleaners are used heavily, even 304 can develop staining or pitting over time. Washing down the panels regularly and letting them dry between uses will extend their working life considerably, and most buyers find the panels last for many years before any renewal is needed.
