Green Fence Panels: The Stack Waiting in Our Yard

Step into our yard on a working morning and the first thing you notice is the order of it all. Row after row of green fence panels stand stacked flat against one another, their edges lined up so evenly that the whole pile looks like a single block of colour stretching into the distance. There is a rhythm to the sight: panel follows panel, each one a neat square of welded wire with a frame bent around its border, and the green PVC coating catches the light differently on every layer, from deep bottle green in the shadow of the stack to a brighter tone where the sun reaches the top rows. These panels begin as plain steel wire, straightened, cut and welded at every intersection to form a uniform square mesh. The frame around each panel is bent from the same wire in one continuous edge, which is what gives the finished panel its stiffness; a panel with a welded border simply does not sag or twist the way a cut sheet can. After welding, the mesh is cleaned and dipped into a fluid PVC bath, where a layer of plastic coating bonds to every wire, including the joints and the frame. That coating is not just for looks. It seals the steel away from moisture and knocks, and it is the main reason these panels keep their green colour and their strength out in the weather year after year.

For buyers, the advantages are practical. The square mesh openings are even from edge to edge, which makes the panel easy to fix to posts and easy to cut when a corner needs a bespoke size. The welded construction holds its shape under pressure, so the panel can stand up to animals leaning against it or children playing beside it without the mesh loosening. And because the PVC coat adds a soft cushioning layer over the wire, the panels are pleasant to handle and gentle on livestock that rub against them. No fence lasts forever, and we do not pretend otherwise; a hard impact, a sharp tool or a cut through the coating can expose the steel underneath, so we always suggest a quick inspection after a rough season. With ordinary care, though, these panels serve for many years before they begin to show their age, and when one panel finally needs replacing, a single swap is all the job takes.
